Moving your home or office can be a very difficult process. And organizing your things after the move can be even more difficult.
That's why we offer you a few tips for a hassle-free move! You will make the process much easier and more enjoyable for you if you follow these few simple steps, whether you do it yourself or call us to make it easier for you:
Before the move
Make a list
Write it all down! You'll be grateful you did it later. Before you pack your first box, set up a simple note-taking system. Take a notebook and write down the box number on the left and the contents on the right. Number -each- box you pack and describe its contents. Don't leave the notebook unless it's in the "Packing Center." Keep your labels, packing tape, markers, and other materials there. When describing the contents of the boxes, be specific - "Folders A to Z" is better than "Folders," "Plates and Cups" is better than "Miscellaneous - Kitchen." Start packing room by room - this will make it easier for you to organize yourself both before and during the move. And it will be even easier afterwards.
Prepare lots of materials
We can't say it enough - you're going to need a LOT of boxes, maybe more than you think, and having enough will make your life so much easier! Our recommendation is to go to your local store and ask for the boxes they're not using and throwing away. So you will save money , because if you buy them, the smallest boxes are priced from 1.50 to 2 lv. per piece. If you wish, of course, we can provide you with boxes. Set aside 10 boxes for packing the most important things that you will use until the last - toiletries, clothes, blankets, for example. Use newspapers to pack your more fragile items like plates and glasses in the boxes. And let's mention it once again - you will most likely need more materials than you think, so start organizing the boxes earlier so that the packing can go smoothly.
Don't make the boxes too heavy, though. A bowling ball, for example, is not the best item to pack in a box :) Also be careful when packing books - use smaller boxes. A book by itself doesn't weigh much, but when you fill a large box, it becomes difficult to carry.
Use sisal sacks, as well as bags, purses, and suitcases to put clothes and shoes in. Don't use regular black, plastic garbage bags! They are too thin and are very likely to tear.
Pack in advance
Anything you can pack in advance will save you time on moving day. If it's summer, pack your winter clothes. You may not need to have all 3 TVs on for the last 2-3 days :) Also get rid of the old and unnecessary things we all accumulate over the years, this is a good opportunity for some serious "spring" cleaning.
Sort by colors
Designate a color for each room in your new home or office (e.g., yellow for the kitchen, blue for the bedroom, etc.). Label the boxes or write them with markers in the corresponding color (this can also be a fun time with the kids while they help color). In your new home, place a label in the corresponding color on the door of each room. This way, you or our movers will be able to arrange your belongings perfectly.
On the day of moving
Ensure access
Please provide a parking space for the truck in front of the entrance to make our job easier. Keep in mind that it requires 2 parking spaces. Talk to your neighbors or park your car the night before to reserve a space.
